Eddie fought in World War Two and spent time as a prisoner of war, he has since written books about his time serving his country and has given talks to children about the reality of war to teach them about their countries history.
He’s an amazing individual who now spends his time chatting with his friends in the home; playing games, and taking part in regular activities – he always has a smile on his face.
He recently celebrated the 75th anniversary of VE Day in the home, wearing his military hat and saluting as the home put on an indoor street party. We’ve included some photographs of what a lovely time they had celebrating VE Day and some photographs of Eddie so you can get to know him a bit better.
Unfortunately Eddie isn’t able to have his family visit for his birthday due to the current lockdown restrictions, and we want to make sure we give him an amazing celebration. He’s a national hero and we’d love for you to all help us make his big day extra special.
His son Kevin has been keeping in touch by putting on some amazing performances from the home’s carpark with his guitar and microphone at the ready. He’s a very talented musician and it means the world to Eddie to be able to listen to his son singing even when they can’t physically be together.
If you’d like to help us ensure Eddie receives the recognition he deserves for his years of service, and amazing actions we’d love to receive cards! If you want to take part send your birthday card too:
