Residents at Valentine House in Silver End, near Braintree and Witham were treated to a very special visit from some feathered friends.
Owl Adventures, who offer visits to care homes, schools and community groups visited the care home on Broadway in Silver End and delighted the residents with a wide variety of different birds of prey including a Tawny owl, barn owl, Harris’ hawk and a magnificent Eagle owl.
Some of the brave residents took turns to hold the creatures and commented on how tame and settled they were. They were given a short explanation of what the birds were, what their natural habitat is and what they like to eat.
Em Galvin, manager at Valentine House explained how the visit came about: “At Valentine House we’re always trying to offer lots of different activities for our residents. We have a wishing tree, which residents add a tag to, where they ask for something they would love to do or see. Of course, we try our best to make these wishes happen and this was one of them. We were delighted that we were able to bring them to the home.”
