This amazing event was organised by the staff in the home to bring together our local community and open the home to the public for the first time since the Coronavirus pandemic began.
Events like this were such a big part of the culture of the home prior to the pandemic, and it is incredibly meaningful and poignant for staff, residents and their loved ones to be able to celebrate together again.
Our Summer Fair brought together a host of amazing donations from local businesses and organisations who kindly donated prizes, vouchers, toiletries, and craft prizes to our raffle and tombola – raising over £100 in total across the day!
We had an amazing array of food and refreshments from our wonderful kitchen team including cakes; an afternoon cream tea, and a beautiful hydration station to ensure our residents were hydrated in the warm weather.
The home was turned into a carnival with decorations throughout the home and grounds, with the garden turned into a circuit of fun activities for all ages to enjoy.
We were lucky enough to feature a number of activities such as Tin Can Alley, Hoopla, Hook-A-Duck and much, much more… and better yet, thanks to the amazing donations every participant who won a game was treated to an exclusive prize at the end of the day!
Our residents were also treated to an amazing performance by one of our favourite entertainers – the wonderful Karl Richardson! He put on an amazing show complete with our residents favourite tunes, and even sang specific songs to our residents at their request.
We were also joined by an amazing local ice-cream company – Indi’s Ices, a Norwich based ice cream van boasting their very own recipe – which our residents were raving about all afternoon. We wanted to say a huge thank you for attending as the ice creams went down a real treat!
This was a truly lovely afternoon which brought together young and old, friends and family and spread joy throughout the home.
Thank you to our Home Manager Emily Carrasquillo; Deputy Manager Mariana Magro, Activities Coordinator Stephanie Dickerson, the amazing kitchen team, all of our fabulous carers and everyone at Laurel Lodge for making this day so special for our resident group.
