David was born in Alton, and grew up in Windmill Cottage with his mother, and three brothers. He spent a lot of time outdoors as a child and enjoyed nature. He told us about some of his fondest childhood memories, he said:
“My mother would let me camp out on the lawn, we would spend all night out there”
David enjoyed school, and was passionate about learning. His favourite subjects were art and science, and that passion propelled him into a career as a research chemist. David told us about a science class which will always stick in his head with a beaming smile on his face, he said:
“When I was in school I took the highest school certificate in chemistry, one time I broke a burette in my lesson and I felt so guilty about it the teacher helped me try put it back together”.
It wasn’t long until he met his sweetheart and they were married in a traditional Yorkshire ceremony, before going on to have two daughters – Jan and Julie.
At Black Swan Care Group we believe in ensuring our residents receive a celebration on their Birthdays – and we want to give David the best Birthday we possibly can.
In usual circumstances our residents would be able to have their friends and family visit them to celebrate, and have a party in the home. That may not be able to happen right now, but we want David to know how important he is to all of us, and that he is part of the wider community.
We would love to see a flood of cards come in for David and we would appreciate it if you would share this appeal far and wide!
